On Wednesday, Feb. 26, Christian churches all over the world will be celebrating Ash Wednesday. This day marks the beginning of Lent, the 40-day season immediately before Easter. The Lenten season is a time for self-examination and study in the Christian tradition, when followers of Jesus Christ are called to reflect on their way of life and prepare to be resurrected with Christ at Easter.

Police arrest Poughkeepsie man for filming sexual abuse of unconscious person; believe there may be other victims

On February 21, the New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested Michael J. Innello, 26, of Poughkeepsie, for two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, a class D felony, and two counts of second-degree unlawful surveillance, a class E felony. According to police, an investigation found Innello filmed himself sexually abusing an unconscious victim who was helpless and incapable of consent.

Term limits for Saugerties town officials discussed

Councilman Mike Ivino’s draft legislation calls for town board members to be limited to two four-year terms and town supervisors be limited to four two-year terms. The terms of town justices, town tax receiver, town clerk and highway superintendent would not be affected. So far, the majority of town board members have not signed on to the idea.
