Kingston police responded to a report of shots fired on a residential street downtown on Monday, Feb. 24. The incident comes as the city faces a spike in violent crime that includes three unsolved homicides and multiple instances of gunplay on city streets.

On February 21, the New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested Michael J. Innello, 26, of Poughkeepsie, for two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, a class D felony, and two counts of second-degree unlawful surveillance, a class E felony. According to police, an investigation found Innello filmed himself sexually abusing an unconscious victim who was helpless and incapable of consent.

Councilman Mike Ivino’s draft legislation calls for town board members to be limited to two four-year terms and town supervisors be limited to four two-year terms.
