A group opposing the decision to replace the current library building kicked off a petition drive to dissolve the Woodstock Library District and have the Town Board take control.
When police found Queens resident Keith Johnson, 46, in the woods near Phoenicia on May 12, he was alive but unresponsive. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police reports. The New York Daily News reported that Johnson, a music teacher in a Queens public school, had been showing signs of distress recently.

Not wanting the public to feel locked out of the process, trustees have put a twist on the traditional request for architect proposals as they work toward the schematic design phase of the library expansion.
Problems include: uneven front steps, no railing, a tree that needs to be removed, no hot water and no gutters.
Trustees opted for a new building and to save a small historic portion that currently houses some staff office space. But there’s no design yet. That will come in the fall.
Since the 2016 the program has received 36 referrals for youth who have been trafficked or are at high risk of being trafficked.
