Choreography on the Edge is a consistently innovative program aimed at giving professional choreographers and dancers a chance to experiment and push their boundaries. Performances started last weekend with some chestnuts from past works and continue Friday, August 16 through Sunday, August 18 with an array of new works by local choreographers Andrea Pastorella, Laura Ward, Julie Manna, Rebecca Frank, Jai Mason, Jess Lewis and Jocelyne Danchick.
The Fugs will make a rare appearance at the Woodstock Guild’s Byrdcliffe Barn at 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock Festival.

Maria Todaro, co-founder and executive director of the Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice, has set Donizetti’s opera The Elixir of Love in an African village for the 2019 festival, which will be held Friday, August 2, to Sunday, August 4. This choice led to the theme of African-American artists and music that weaves through a number of this year’s events, including a performance of selections from a historic ragtime-influenced opera, Treemonisha, by composer Scott Joplin.
