Saugerties ice arena fixes delayed

Rather than in late August as originally planned, the process of replacing the Kiwanis Ice Arena’s walls and deteriorating roof will likely begin in “later September,” according to an email to town Parks and Buildings Supervisor Greg Chorvas from a representative from contractor Legacy Building Solutions. The completion date for the project, the email stated, will “bump up against” the original target date of Nov. 16.

Trucks can continue to come on and off Joe Karolys’ three construction and demolition debris dumping sites in Saugerties until at least September 11 after state Supreme Court Judge Richard Mott adjourned an August 22 hearing in which the town was seeking to overturn the Temporary Restraining Order that prevents it from enforcing stop work orders at the sites.

Saugerties Police link stolen debit card to “Felony Lane Gang”

Police say the accused is a member of the group called the Felony Lane Gang, a group of criminals who are responsible for stealing purses from parked vehicles, usually forcible entry (smash and grab) and then use the stolen IDs, bank cards and bank checks to access the victim’s bank accounts and remove money without the owner’s knowledge.
