Saugerties has side-stepped the “sanctuary city” debate, but some see the new policy as a similar because it mentions immigration checks. ‘With unbiased policing, we don’t ask about your residency status, we’ve never done that,” said Police Chief Joe Sinagra.

At the behest of county executive Mike Hein, the Vietnam Travelling War Memorial will be displayed at Cantine Veteran’s Memorial Complex between July 18 and 23 in the coming year.

Built circa 1875, the warehouses are a reminder of an era in which Saugerties played an integral role in the industrialization of the Hudson Valley. Visitors and the estimated 400 electric-car users in Ulster County can now power up at Saugerties’ first charging station, located in front of the Small World Park near the Kiwanis Ice Arena.

Sections of sidewalk along Main and Partition streets will be replaced. Work is expected to begin this fall.
