After a slew of failed attempts over the past decade, the Saugerties Town Board is reassessing its ability to establish a noise ordinance. But it won’t be easy — Town Supervisor Fred Costello was quick this week to outline the various pitfalls surrounding such a law.
Republican State Assemblyman Chris Tague fended off a second challenge by Democratic Greene County Legislator Aidan O’Connor, securing for himself a two-year term in the state Assembly.
Town Justice candidate Chris Kraft on Tuesday decisively defeated incumbent Will Myers 4,770-3,002, according to unofficial results, to fill the remaining three years of the late Judge Dan Lamb’s four-year term.
As President Donald Trump delivered a midterm election message that leaned heavily on foreboding and fear, first-time congressional candidate Antonio Delgado was urging his supporters to “lean into your love.” On election night, voters across the sprawling 19th Congressional District did just that, electing the 41-year-old former corporate attorney and unseating Republican John Faso.
Voters in the 102nd district will see a rematch of the April 24 special election, when Tague, a Republican from Scoharie, defeated O’Connor, a Greene County legislator.
In the second-to-last column on the Nov. 6 ballot, voters will have the choice of two local lawyers to be town justice. While Christopher Kraft has secured endorsements from the Democratic, Working Families and Independence parties, counting more than his adversary, Republican William Myers. Myers has held the position as an interim for eight months since Daniel Lamb died in February.
“Congressman John Faso of New York has worked hard and smart,” tweeted the president. “Strong on Crime, Borders and our 2nd Amendment, John is respected by all. Vote for John. He has my complete and total Endorsement!”
With two weeks until Election Day, the race in New York’s 19th Congressional District is a dead heat.
VanBlarcum confronted a series of issues, including his appearance in a photograph with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office last year.
The two candidates for this swing congressional district have different visions for the healthcare system. Faso, who voted for the Republican repeal bill last year, supports some changes to what he sees as an essentially well functioning private insurance market, while Delgado favors a public option, which would let Americans buy into a government-run insurance program.
