A first-term councilman is challenging a first-term supervisor, but both are familiar faces in town politics.
Mayor Bill Murphy is seeking his fifth full term in elections to be held later this month. He’s being challenged by trustee Don Hackett.
Town councilman and lifelong Saugerties resident Paul Andreassen announced March 2 his intentions of running for town supervisor this November.
Allen, who previously represented District 2 from 2015-17, bested Town Board member John Schoonmaker for the Democratic endorsement at the county convention.
‘I have nothing personal against Bill Murphy [mayor William Murphy],” said village trustee Donald Hackett. “This is just business.”
The proposed zoning change on Teetsel Street to allow for twelve townhouse units. Current zoning allows for single-family and two-family homes, but not for attached townhouses.
