Farm Animal Day at Saugerties Farmers’ Market on Saturday

Saturday, Aug. 31: The parade of farm animals includes horses, ponies, an alpaca, baby goat, pot-bellied pig, baby bunnies, chicks, ferrets, chinchillas and bees in their hive. At this free event, children and families are welcome to touch and hold and the animals, take pony rides, climb on the antique tractors, make art, get a face-painting and more.

Tony’s Army wants you: Fundraiser to assist Saugerties man with medical bills

Last year, after his bladder and lymph nodes were removed, lifetime Barclay Heights resident Tony Amato was declared cancer-free. But it came back with a vengeance six months later, encroaching upon the 48-year-old’s liver and lungs. “Tony’s Army” — about 200 of Tony’s of friends, family and neighbors — are selling hot dogs and baked goods to patrons outside of Kylie’s Sweet Shop during the annual Sawyer Motors Car Show on Sunday, July 7 from 1-6 p.m. to raise funds for his ramping medical expenses.

America has always been a society of joiners, and it was in that spirit that Ulster County executive Pat Ryan last Friday signed resolutions at the historic Volunteer Fireman’s Hall on Fair Street in Kingston to authorize up to $6.2 million in bonding for construction of a public safety training center on Ulster Landing Park in the Town of Ulster.
