The Saugerties Reformed Church is hosting a series of talks intended for “Nones and Dones,” those without a religious affiliation or those who are simply “done;” who used to have an affiliation but no longer do because of doubts or negative experiences.
More than 3000 people packed the Village of Saugerties last Sunday for the Holiday in the Village celebration to shop, to enjoy the festive atmosphere, to take part in the annual toy giveaway run by Bob Siracusano and the Sawyer Automotive Foundation, and to watch the yearly decoration lighting of Seamon Park, as well as the Festival of Lights parade run by the Saugerties Fire Department.
Take 131 bicycles, dozens of TVs, dolls, footballs and assorted other toys. Add 50 baseball gloves and balls. Combine that with 42 wreathes and garland. Throw in about 1500 light bulbs and add one large Christmas tree. That’s the recipe for the biggest Holiday in the Village celebration that Saugerties has ever held.
The Sussin Family of 123 Patch Road in Saugerties invites the public to view the fourth iteration of their annual Christmas light show every night until Jan. 1, weather permitting, from 5-10 p.m.
This year’s Sawyer Motors Foundation fundraiser benefited the Raise Your Awareness About Narcotics (R.Y.A.N) program and the Saugerties choir program. The event featured America’s Got Talent winner Landau Murphy Jr. and local comedian and Saugerties High School graduate Mike Speirs.
The goal is to place the libraries in neighborhoods that have the least access to the Washington Ave. library.

The Saugerties Farmers Market will hold its first indoor market this Saturday, November 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Senior Center.
It was hard to find anyone who wasn’t loving tacos during a recent Tuesday visit to the Saugerties unit of the Boys and Girls Club.
The new playground at Seamon Park is being designed with a natural look: logs instead of metal, and a slide that follows the pitch of the land. “I wanted to have a playground that was more natural and matched the landscape,” said Heidi-Jo Brandt, who heads the village playground fund.
