The owner of Lucky Chocolates is turning the business over to two employees.

A good crepe was a little hard to come by in Saugerties until this month, let alone Hawaii-inspired crepes, fluffy pancakes and other favorites from the 50th state’s rich cuisine.

Opening a significant new aspect to its business, HITS Inc., which runs horse shows in Saugerties as well as several other locations across the country, is now in charge of arranging events for the new Exposition Center at the New York State Fair up in Syracuse.

If you think Saugerties is worth showcasing, you aren’t alone — CGI Communications, a Rochester-based marketing firm that has filmed “video tours” of municipalities throughout the country approached Saugerties officials to put together a promotional video to be displayed on the town’s website.

Village officials believe the new owner of 19-century mansion that has stood vacant since the early 90s is serious about fixing it up. “In the past, people were buying [the property] just to try to flip it,” said trustee Terry Parisian. “No one really had any solid plans.”

Parts made and shipped from the LoDolce Machine Company in Malden can be found on New York subway trains, in dental x-ray machines, on F-22 fighter planes, on trains throughout the country, and in IBM brackets used around the globe.

Longtime Glasco resident and mobile barbecue purveyor Desi Dutcher has expanded his operation from catering gigs and a parked food truck in the Twin Maples area of Saugerties to a permanent storefront on Route 9W.

After scoffing at this reporter’s skincare routine of Clearasil and bar soap, the two advised that I use a lavender-scented “pearl cleansing cream” followed by a retinol oil containing carrot and rose elements to treat my acne, and sent me home with written instructions on how to use them.
