Longtime Glasco resident and mobile barbecue purveyor Desi Dutcher has expanded his operation from catering gigs and a parked food truck in the Twin Maples area of Saugerties to a permanent storefront on Route 9W.
The Friends of Historic Saugerties will present “The Catskill Tanneries: An Environmental Disaster with a Happy Ending” on Saturday, May 5 at 2 p.m. in the community room of the Saugerties Public Library, 91 Washington Ave.
Saugerties is a step closer to outdoor amenities at Bristol Beach, according to town supervisor Fred Costello. Primitive hiking trails and an access point from Route 9W are on the horizon for this year.
The spending plan comes with a 2.53 percent tax levy increase, the maximum possible without having to resort to approval from a supermajority of 60 percent or greater at the polls.
Among the new recruits are a college professor, a transplant from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Department and a 19-year-old girl straight out of high school.
Usage rates would go up, but the flat delivery charge would decrease.
A dogwood tree will be planted at Saugerties’ town offices at 4 High Street on Arbor Day, Friday, April 27 at 3 p.m.
The cause of the three-alarm fire at 18-20 Russell St. that claimed the life of 46-year-old Tanya Conklin and seriously injured four others on Saturday, April 21 had yet to be determined by investigators as of Wednesday. According to Police Chief Joseph Sinagra, who spoke Monday, April 23 there is “no indication whatsoever at this time that it was an intentional act.”
Three-time cancer survivor and Saugerties resident Zach Swart took action against childhood cancer by traveling to Washington, D.C. to advocate for kids like him at the eighth annual Childhood Cancer Action Days on April 23-24. His visit was coordinated by the Alliance for Childhood Cancer.
