A benefit for the families affected by the April 21 fire on Russell Street in the Village of Saugerties which took the life of 46-year-old mother Tanya Conklin and the material possessions of two families will take place this Saturday, May 12 at the Smoking Pony BBQ at 963 King’s Highway.
Voters will decide the fate of a $64 million budget with a 2.5 percent tax increase. Board president Robert Thomann, James Mooney and Mike Maclary are unopposed in the trustee election.

“For the sake of our self-respect, it all has to be historical, otherwise we’re just playing around with swords,” said New York Historical Fencing Association member Jeremy Wolf, who studies medieval history at Bard College.
“If a group of people can come together, it can represent the entire community in a positive light,” said SHS senior and National Honor Society president Tanesia White. “That’s what the National Honor Society is all about.”

The cause of the fire that left one woman dead and multiple families homeless and without possessions has yet to be determined.
