Clad in shorts and helmets, cops on bicycles may seem to be less intimidating than officers strapped into police cars, but apparently that is considered one of the advantages of bike patrols. After watching officers train, learning to quickly navigate stairs and apprehend violent individuals on two wheels, a bystander may rethink their preconceptions.
“It’s a great small-knit community,” said Reinhardt of Saugerties. “I grew up here (in Kingston) so I know the community. I’ve been at Cantine Field, I’ve been at Kiwanis, I’ve been at the Garlic Festival. It’s a great little community.”
Last week, Kingston and Saugerties lost one of our favorite people and an unmistakable influence on so many in the underground Upstate New York hip-hop scene, a poetic soul who never took what he had for granted. Kristy Bishop, local art teacher and former Saugerties Times columnist, is thankful for the help she received following her cancer diagnosis. Now she’s cancer-free and preparing for the 29th annual student art show for her school this weekend.
