New Paltz Mayor Tim Rogers and developer David Shepler spoke about the future of New Paltz’s village, particularly the mixed-use zone on Rt. 32 where Zero Place would be built, at a recent luncheon.
The plan had been mired in the courts because many residents who would be directly affected didn’t want to give up their wells or allow the work in their neighborhood. Many placed “Don’t water district me!” signs on their property.
The bridge will be removed and replaced with a prefabricated steel pedestrian bridge with wooden decking, similar to the Cedar Drive Bridge over Mohonk Road near the Preserve’s Spring Farm Trailhead.
“I love what I’m doing,” she says. “I listen to what people tell me they want, and am building the business little by little. I really like to help people dress, and feel wonderful in what they wear.”
The arrangement was decided upon because neither wanted to assume the position of sole chair.

Joel Guerrero of New Paltz isn’t the sort of guy who comes to mind when the president talks about deporting criminals. He has a 2010 misdemeanor conviction resulting from police finding a pot plant at his house while responding to a noise complaint, and he regularly checks in with immigration officials. But after years of strict deportation of felony offenders under the Obama administration, most of the remaining immigrants that could be deported have similarly non-threatening criminal records.
The bricks will be on view at a March 9 fundraising event.
