Spurred in part by anguish over the results of last week’s presidential election and partly by the appearance of racist graffiti on campus, hundreds of SUNY New Paltz students walked out of their classes at noontime last Friday for an energetic demonstration against the policies of Donald Trump.
“Dude, I don’t even know. What was good about high school?”
The antics of this sweetly-but-alarmingly dysfunctional family will come to life once more in the Otto Grassel Auditorium at New Paltz High School on November 17 through 19.
It has been awhile. Six years to be exact since New Paltz football last won the Section 9 Class B football title with a win over Marlboro. That 13-0 win was followed by five straight years of dominance by the Dukes — a pretty remarkable streak – that came to an end Friday night at Dietz Stadium as the Huguenots used a bunch of big plays on offense and a stingy defense to down Marlboro 33-17.

When guidance counselor Jessica Peterson came into Jasmine Walker’s Life Prep class in freshman year, her talk about the importance of clubs prompted Walker to join no less than seven school organizations. Now a senior, Walker has narrowed her tastes, and says she couldn’t be happier.
“In school I’m really quiet and shy, but when I get up on stage I get to joke around with the audience.”
Three drinking fountains were removed from service following the results.
Studies suggest many younger people have a hard time concentrating early in the morning.
Many felt that the changes would not only result in less safety, but would put their children directly in harm’s way by having them walk further to a bus stop and encountering traffic along the way.
