Hunter’s passing has sent powerful ripples through the New Paltz/Gardiner community, where many knew her as an accomplished singer/songwriter and the mother of what her husband Tim Hunter calls their “United Nations family.”

The event had the feeling of a family dinner — albeit a very large family — warm and festive and welcoming.
Made from a plank cut from the 2015 Rockefeller Center tree, the plaque depicts a Christmas tree carved in relief, accented by wood-burned details representing tree branches and the figure of Prometheus, placed atop the tree in place of a star. The 18-foot-tall gilded bronze figure of Prometheus at Rockefeller Center is located on the plaza there, at the base of the annual Christmas tree, overlooking the skaters on the ice rink below since 1934.
The New Paltz police officers who participated in the American Cancer Society fund-raiser, “No-Shave November,” reached their goal and then some.
The frigid temperatures last Friday night, December 9, did not deter a sizable crowd from turning out for the Town of Lloyd’s annual Light Up the Hamlet event.
When an adult advisor says of a group of high school students, “These kids are going to change the world,” it’s easy to write that off as hyperbole. That is, until you meet said students, the members of Highland High School’s Interact Club.
“It’s quite a privilege to be able to help people in need — especially in the community that you grew up in.”
She hopes to attend SUNY New Paltz for a major in communication disorders and may pursue a master’s in occupational therapy — an experience that she says was “a lot of fun” as a kid. “I really like to help other people, and I love working with people,” she says.
Some people take their gingerbread housebuilding very seriously indeed.
