Shamrock Beer & Tobacco holds grand opening in Highland

Located on the site of a former Ford dealership on Route 9W, Shamrock Beer & Tobacco is an outgrowth of the Shamrock Wine & Liquor store — literally, in that a wall of the old automobile showroom was bumped out and a roomy extension constructed, complete with large walk-in coolers and a temperature-and-humidity-controlled humidor room for cigars. The building complex is owned by the Patel family, and the new beer store is being operated by Shyan Patel and his wife Kristin.

New Dollar General and 72-unit apartment complex proposed for Lloyd

The so-called Dollar General project is much larger and more complex than the nickname might suggest. Three parcels, totaling 21.7 acres, along Rt. 9W and including the existing Burger King, Trustco Bank, and a strip mall are included. A Dollar General would be constructed on one of those lots, and a 72-unit apartment complex would be built behind those businesses, with the strip mall refurbished to match.
