The eatery has entered a new phase with new owners, husband and wife, Mike Katz and Lara Alicandro. The renovations they’ve made to the space have opened it up, making it lighter and brighter with dining tables replacing the retro booths and the pinball machines relocated to make room for a counter seating six.

In the 1985 film, Back to the Future, Michael J. Fox’s character, Marty McFly, travelled through time back to the ‘50s in a souped-up DeLorean converted into a time machine. But no such device will be necessary for modern-day Hudson Valley-ites who wish to go back to the ‘80s for a night: all one needs is a ticket to the 90 Miles Theatre Company’s next themed cabaret, “Back to the ‘80s,” on Saturday, March 30 at Boughton Place, 150 Kisor Road in Highland.

Rail trail bridge in Gardiner poised for redecking this summer

The work needed on the 1910 deck plate girder pedestrian overpass that carries the rail trail over Forest Glen Road consists primarily of redecking. Rotted wooden decking, old railroad ties and fencing will be removed and replaced with more durable concrete decking and new safety railings. Trees that are pushing against the bridge abutments will be removed and trail erosion nearby the bridge repaired.

Word came Saturday that New Paltz resident Luis Martinez had been put on a deportation list days earlier, and that more public action might be all that stands between him and a plane trip to Mexico. Message received: roughly 150 friends and neighbors showed up yesterday afternoon at the Orange County Correctional Facility to make their voices heard.
