Led by two-time double Section 9 champion Abbie Santos and a lot of great swimming by a deep, deep team, the New Paltz girls won their first-ever Section 9 title on Saturday, November 4 at Valley Central, cruising over second place Monroe-Woodbury 302-250. Long-time coach Don Bartlett was chosen as OCIAA Coach-of-the-Year.

Students, environmental organizations and community members marked the five-year anniversary of Superstorm Sandy with a march on Saturday, Oct. 30. The storm, which hit the northeast with such power that it took lives, destroyed homes and transit infrastructure, flooded subways and greatly impacted people from the NYC-metro area to the Hudson Valley.
The Town of Lloyd Events Committee and the Highland Business Association partnered up to put on another successful Halloween in the Hamlet event last Saturday, Oct. 28.
The parade itself is led by a proud horse, with a skeletal demeanor and a tall rider. The New Paltz Community Band has mastered its version of the “Addams Family” theme, and halfway down another band has joined in with the theme from “Ghostbusters.” As always, spectators join in to march and marchers peel off to seek sugary booty.

With temperatures peaking in the low 60s, a light breeze and thin cirrus clouds scudding across a blue autumn sky, last Saturday was a perfect day for a run, and the foliage-bedecked grounds of the Williams Lake Resort the perfect setting.
