There’s little sign that the hot market for real estate in Kingston in 2019 is slowing. The latest Multiple Listing Service data from the first half of the third quarter of the year confirms that the substantial increase in median sales price over the previous year is continuing.

Newburgh man convicted of attempted rape following child-sex sting

On September 8, 2019, Travis Sammeth made contact with an undercover police officer through an online website. He expressed interest in having sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl and made arrangements to meet with who he believed to be the 14-year-old girl and her stepfather. When Sammeth arrived at the designated location, the Hudson Valley Mall, he was arrested. In reaching their verdict, the jury found that Sammeth had the intent to engage in sexual intercourse with a minor and that his conduct came dangerously close to completing that intent.

East Kingston rock slides cause concern

According to Ulster Town officials, heavy rains over the past week have yielded no further encroachment by a rockslide on Main Street in East Kingston. A rockslide on Thursday, July 25 was followed by a minor slide on Friday, Aug. 9 at Callanan’s East Kingston quarry site. But at least one local resident has found fault with both Callanan and the municipal response, saying she feels like Town Supervisor James Quigley III is siding with the company over the people of East Kingston.
