Letter: A Horror at the border

“I call on all mandated reporters and all people with a conscience!” writes a reader. “Make the call now! Do something … we must stop this cruelty, reunite the children with their families and act like the caring, humane, intelligent people we know we are!”

Rockslides in East Kingston

Rockslides in East Kingston

Two recent rockslides on Main Street in East Kingston are being monitored by Ulster town officials, Callanan Industries and state authorities. According to town officials, the pair of rockslides appear to have been caused by the collapse of an historic cement mine opening created in the late 1800s, and were not related to blasting, which was not happening when the slides occurred. Callanan suspended all blasting on Aug. 12 to ensure the safety and stability of the slopes overlooking Main Street.

It’s the perfect stop for a quick soup, sandwich or salad and some light conversation.
