Owner Suzanne Schreter has been a fixture of Hudson Valley’s antique community for more than three decades. She took the time from a busy day to show me around one of the most fun shops in the area and to tell me a bit about her experiences running her well-regarded store.

Kingston firefighters set 9/11 remembrance

The Kingston Fire Department will hold its annual marking of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks next Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Fireman’s Park on Washington Avenue. Attendees are asked to gather at 8:30 a.m.; the ceremony will begin at 8:46 a.m., when American Airlines Flight 11 hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center. The public is encouraged to attend.

Kingston begins moving toward rent regulation

Mayor Steve Noble has asked the Common Council to approve $32,000 in funding to study vacancy rates in some of the city’s rental housing units. The survey would clear the way for the introduction of rent regulation in Kingston under the newly passed statewide Emergency Tenant Protection Act.
