That’s cold: Heat, hot water out at Kingston public housing complex
Dozens of residents of a downtown public housing complex endured a frigid night without heat or hot water after, some say, Kingston Housing Authority officials failed to respond to complaints about erratic service.
Kingston’s ‘Santa Claus Lane’ residents go all out to light up the holiday
Each holiday season, Kingston puts on an impromptu display of Christmas cheer. Entire streets get into the act, of which perhaps the most famous is Santa Claus Lane, a.k.a. Derrenbacher Street, which runs uphill from Foxhall Avenue in the heart of Midtown near the railroad tracks.

One of the two last surviving steamboats in the country is Kingston-bound

In order for those programs to occur on that locale, the venerable 208-foot-long steam-powered vessel has to be moored on the Hudson River, and specifically on the Rondout Creek.
People’s Place helping hungry kids with vacation program
People’s Place, a Kingston-based thrift store and food pantry, will hold its first-ever Bag Holiday Hunger initiative, a program intended to give the families of public-school students in Ulster County who participate in free and reduced-price meal programs the means to help feed their children during the winter break.
