You can stay and play at Rhinebeck’s Megabrain Comics

New comics for all ages are delivered to the store every Wednesday. Megabrain also offers a walk-in gaming experience that ranges from traditional board games such as Scrabble, Clue, Risk and chess to fantasy RPG gaming like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and the Red Dragon Inn. Customers will be able to sign up for scheduled Magic the Gathering, Pokémon and Yugi-Oh tournaments, or just walk in during normal business hours and pay for gaming time by the hour.

Sinterklaas comes to Rhinebeck

Saturday, Dec. 2: Sinterklaas will ride into Rhinebeck on his white horse, and the festivities go on all day long, with live dance, theater and music happening all over the village. The Children’s Starlight Parade, featuring two-story-tall animated puppets carried by hundreds of volunteers, unfolds at twilight.

Saturday, Dec. 2: Thousands of visitors are expected in Hudson’s historic center for Winter Walk, happening from 5 to 8 p.m., and there’s plenty to do to keep them all busy. Santa Claus arrives in his horsedrawn sleigh. He will listen to children’s holiday wishes and distribute a free gift-wrapped book to every child. As the grandfather clock strikes eight o’clock, fireworks light up the winter sky from Promenade Hill.

St. Nicholas may have started out, historically, as a bishop in fourth-century Asia Minor with a reputation for strategic philanthropy, somehow making his way to the Netherlands to become Amsterdam’s patron saint; but it’s arguably New Yorkers – particularly residents of the Hudson Valley – who are largely to thank for the jolly fat man’s international ubiquity.
