Saturday, Nov. 18: A central figure in the rockabilly revival of the late ’70s and early ’80s, Gordon coexisted with punk and New Wave, and few people know the old repertoire like this fellow does. When Colony booked Gordon, there was probably very little doubt or even conversation about whom to lock down as the support act: Lara Hope & the Ark-Tones, of course – the mid-Hudson Valley’s own ardent rockabilly aficionados.

Saturday, Nov. 18: Director Randall Craig Fleischer will conduct a concert that includes Smetana’s “Vltava (The Moldau),” Debussy’s “La Mer,” and Vaughan Williams’ dramatic “Sinfonia Antarctica,” the latter to be accompanied by the Vassar College Women’s Chorus and Jon Bowermaster’s stunning projected images of Antarctica’s vanishing ice cap.
Saturday, Nov. 11: During this performance, Ozark will be presenting “Map to the Stars,” an exploration using live 3D audio sound to create an immersive experience for concert-goers. He will incorporate technology developed by Paul Geluso, an engineer, composer, and educator, who is currently on faculty at NYU researching 3D audio technology.
If you are not an aficionado of abstract art, three solo exhibitions on display this month at galleries in Shady, Hudson and Poughkeepsie may convert you, especially if you take your time and linger before the work.
While Devo demos its famous choreography and Oingo Boingo and XTC hiccup through their skittish numbers, Ubu’s David Thomas commands your…concern. He doesn’t seem quite right. He’s dressed for a business meeting — suit and tie, his clean shaven and pudgy baby face scrubbed raw behind the ears. He gesticulates wildly, the purpose inscrutable.
