Conservative incumbent Mary Wawro is looking for her fifth term, but she has to get past Aaron Levine. District I is the largest Saugerties district by area, and includes areas north, west, and southwest of the village.
On Election Day, Shandaken residents will vote for two of four candidates running for town board. Incumbent Peter DiSclafani is on the Democratic ticket, along with Vivian Welton, while council member Gael Alba is retiring. Kyle Steen and Ken Booth were nominated by the Republicans. The town board currently has four Democratic members, alongside Republican supervisor Rob Stanley, who is running for reelection against Democrat Brian Powers.
A county-commissioned report stated that an investigation by an Albany law firm found longtime New Paltz legislator Hector Rodriguez was likely guilty of sexually harassing women and other misconduct.
District 7 county legislator and Kingston’s only Republican elected official, Brian Woltman, is seeking a second term in office. He faces a challenge from first-time candidate, Democrat Peter Criswell.
Franco Carucci is a relative newcomer to municipal government, appointed last spring to fill out the remainder of the term of Mike Reynolds when Reynolds resigned after moving outside the township. Trained as an attorney, and with many years of experience obtaining grants for municipalities as a principal of Shingebiss Associates, Laura Walls has served on the board for nearly four years; before that she was town supervisor for a single term in 2000-2001.
Although the political climate continues to heat up throughout the region and the globe, in New Paltz, there are two candidates running unopposed on the ballot for two available seats on the New Paltz Town Board.
There is no lack of local candidates vying for a seat on the Lloyd Town Board. Democratic incumbents Mike Guerriero and Joe Mazzetti are being challenged by Republicans Bud Walker and John Fraino.

A hazardous bridge and an overwhelmed sewer district are among the major infrastructure concerns going forward to her third term, and rewriting the zoning code to cope with the challenges to neighborhoods presented by new forms of tourist accommodations such as AirBnBs is also on the supervisor’s immediate docket.
