A probable case of mumps in a New Paltz High School student was confirmed today, Thursday, November 17 by schools superintendent Maria Rice. The diagnosis has yet to be confirmed, but parents of students at all four schools are being notified of the situation by letter.

Mayor Steve Noble plans to meet with members of the Common Council next week to propose a new parking scheme that would double the cost of metered on-street spots and install payment kiosks in municipal lots that currently offer free parking.
Assistance from the federal government and Central Hudson is available. Eligibility is based on family income and size.
