On May 16, the Olive planning board approved the revised site plan for wedding events at the Ashokan Dreams bed-and-breakfast, hammering out conditions in an effort to limit the impact on High Point Mountain Road neighbors who have complained about such issues as noise, traffic, and invasion of privacy.

Approximately 874 out of 11,185 potential voters in the Onteora Central School district came out on Tuesday, May 16 and cast ballots to easily approve the 2017/18-school budget of $54,296,155, and to elect the four trustees listed to the Board of Education. Including absentee ballots, the budget passed 724-212.

The $62.4-million budget passed with nearly 70 percent of the vote; propositions to establish a reserve fund for future projects and construct a greenhouse also passed easily. Incumbents Krista Barringer and Damion Ferraro were reelected along with Susan Gage, formerly the district’s director of special education. Incumbent Charles Schirmer and challenger Alex Rappoport came up short.
