Tally continues in Ulster DA’s race

Last week, election officials completed their count of absentee and affidavit ballots, leaving Democrat Dave Clegg with a 45-vote lead over Republican Mike Kavanagh. On Wednesday, Dec. 4, both sides appeared in court to begin the process of counting or dismissing 289 ballots that have been subject to challenges.

State Police investigate fatal Ulster County stabbing

On Monday, Dec. 3, at approximately 9 p.m., the New York State Police responded to a stabbing on Route 209 in the Town of Wawarsing. Investigation revealed that the victim, Jomar Gonzalez, 24 of Wawarsing was stabbed multiple times. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the Ellenville Regional Hospital.  State Police later arrested Tiquan Underwood, 21 of Fallsburg, and charged him with first-degree manslaughter. State police are continuing the investigation and ask that anyone with information to contact the New York State Police in Ellenville at 845-626-2863.

“I’m known for dresses and partywear,” says Tiny Stainker, fanning out the skirt of a velvet dress in her boutique, Lily’s, next to the Woodstock Village Green. She also sells streetwear, winter hats and scarves, nightgowns, kids’ clothing, cards, chocolate, and an eclectic mix of other items. Most of what she sells is designed by artists she has connected with in her 25 years of running a shop in Woodstock.
