Voters on Tuesday night, May 16 approved the Highland Central School District’s proposed budget of $42,866,930 for the 2017-18 school year.
Saugerties district voters will decide on the budget, select three members of the school board, and determine the fate of two propositions.
Voters in the Onteora Central School district go to the polls 2 p.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, to elect four board of trustees candidates and to decide whether to approve or reject the district’s proposed budget.

The Kingston City School District isn’t sure how much they’d be able to sell their Crown Street headquarters for if they officially put it back on the market. But they’re hoping district voters will approve a renovation plan for the former Frank L. Meagher Elementary School that would be partially funded by that sale.
The propositions would allow the district to construct a greenhouse and establish a reserve fund for specific projects.
On Tuesday, May 16, Saugerties school voters will choose from five candidates vying for three open seats on the school board. Running for three-year terms are incumbents Krista Barringer, Damion Ferraro and Charles Schirmer. Challengers are Susan Gage and Alex Rappoport.
An Onteora trustee said the policy contributes to body shaming of girls. Other board members said girls felt embarrassed when their spaghetti strap tops get measured in front of other students, or how shorts for girls are generally measured as too short, but OK for boys.
