A meet and greet, co-sponsored by the district and the New Paltz Athletic Association, has been scheduled for Monday, August 7 at 5 p.m. in the district office conference room at Lenape Elementary School. Parents, students and community members are invited to come meet Warren and welcome him to the district.
Newly-elected board members Kathy Preston and Teresa Thompson were sworn in by district clerk Dusti Callo, who then administered the oath of office to the board’s choice for their president, Michael O’Donnell, and vice-president, Alison Easton.
Each school year, a member of the student council is selected to serve as the student representative to the school board. Dhandi, treasurer of the Class of 2017, said she enjoyed serving in the role, which served as a liaison between the student body and the school district.

Classroom lessons will be developed to support the new focus, with the period between Indigenous Peoples’ Day and Thanksgiving Day be used “as an opportunity to honor and respect indigenous peoples and their contributions to this region and the Americas, in an effort to build a more aware, inclusive and knowledgeable school community.”
Onteora High School held its commencement Friday, June 23.
“For some, college is the next chapter,” said senior class president Daelan Santamaria. “Or, for some, the military or entering the work force. As for myself, I have absolutely no idea, and it’s kind of scary. It’s okay for now. There’s still a little time to figure stuff out.”
It was a relatively small graduating class that filed onto the Carl F. Meekins Athletic Field at Highland High School for commencement ceremonies on a sultry summer evening.
