Jelly is kid stuff, right? Something you outgrew a long time ago, except for maybe a rare PB&J when the cold cuts are all gone and you’re waiting on your next paycheck to go grocery-shopping? Some Gardiner-based entrepreneurs, doing business under the name of Doc Schwarz Wine Jelly, are brewing up new jelly flavors that will have you looking for innovative culinary uses for what used to be a humble sandwich spread.

Phoenicia clinic opens with neurologist; seeks more practitioners

The new clinic in Phoenicia currently has only one doctor, neurologist Paul Mullin of Medical Associates of the Hudson Valley (MAHV), but the practice is looking to take on additional practitioners in family medicine, internal medicine, and mental health. Mullin, whose office opened on May 20 at 9 Ava Maria Drive, as part of the Kingston-based group, is already booked with patients, virtually back-to-back, for two weeks.

On the chalkboard at the door of Esopus Creel, the new fly fishing store at the Phoenicia Plaza on Route 28, the list of promising flies to fish today includes beadhead prince, blue-winged olive, and flashback pheasant tail. Even “creel,” the word for a wicker basket used to carry fish, has an elegant ring to it.
