Friday, Feb. 15: For 33 months, from 1977 to 1980, the nightclub Studio 54 was the place to be seen in Manhattan. A haven of hedonism, glitz and glamour, the club was highly exclusive, with news of who was there filling the gossip columns daily.
It’s a visual gem that ought to be studied frame-by-frame by anyone pursuing a career in cinema.
Friday, Feb. 1: The Bardavon sesquicentennial jubilee kicks off on the exact 150th anniversary of the theater’s opening night. Throughout the gathering, guests will be free to roam the theater, walk across the stage and visit dressing rooms, where crew and staff will be on hand to describe what happens behind the scenes and to share stories about the many performing artists and dignitaries who have visited during the building’s long history.

The series for which HBO has been scouting sites is I Know This Much Is True, based on the 1998 novel of the same name by Wally Lamb. It’s a tale of a dysfunctional Italian-American clan in which twins and mental illness both run in the family.

The Bardavon presents a night of big-time comedy with John Mulaney and Pete Davidson on Sunday, February 10 at 7 p.m. and then again at 10 p.m. at the Ulster Performing Arts Center in Kingston.
