Described as “an exhibit that stages concrete and abstract symbols of American values,” the Carrie Haddad Gallery’s new exhibit titled “Americana” opens on January 25 and runs through March 12, with an artists’ reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, January 28.
Its Hudson Whiskey line, distributed worldwide by William Grant and Sons, includes the well-established Baby Bourbon, Four Grain Bourbon, Single Malt Whiskey, New York Corn Whiskey, Manhattan Rye Whiskey and Maple Cask Rye Whiskey.
Admission to the exhibit is free; but if you need an additional incentive to pay a visit to the Vassar campus, you might also want to check out this year’s annual Krieger Lecture, coming up on Feb. 9. “An Evening with Zadie Smith” will feature the highly influential, award-winning British author reading from recent works, which include the acclaimed novel “Swing Time.”
“Antony had a design space down the street, with motorcycles taken apart and beautifully laid out in the front window. I’d joked with him a few times, like, ‘Hey, so, when’re you gonna open up a motorcycle shop?’ He told me about this multi-use space concept, and it went from there.
“I was a red diaper baby,” says Charley Rosen. “My parents passed out pamphlets at subway stations and had their friends over to yell and scream about Trotsky and that. So the book has been in my mind for a long time.”
