Sunday, Dec. 2: He was a self-taught guitarist, fiddler, square dance caller, amateur historian and songwriter who made up tall tales about the Catskills and set them to music – among them “The Legend of Slide Mountain.”
Saturday, Dec. 1: The stellar picker of all things stringed relocated to Wilmington, Delaware in 2002 to open a violin shop. He got involved with saving and restoring a historic opera house that became a keystone in the revitalization of the city’s blighted downtown, started sitting in on local jam sessions and was eventually coaxed out of retirement.
Saturday, Dec. 1: Bassist and producer Scott Petito leads an all-star ensemble tribute featuring Gail Ann Dorsey, Jules Shear, Jane Scarpantoni, Adrien Reju and many more, tackling the ambitious scope of the Beatles’ classic double album.

After years of hosting their annual holiday art and craft fair at the New Paltz Middle School, followed by a two-year run on the SUNY New Paltz campus, Unison Arts Center is bringing the fair home this year, holding the 28th annual holiday Craft, Art and Design Fair at their 68 Mountain Rest Road headquarters in New Paltz over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, December 1-2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Artist Mary Anna Goetz and her gallerist husband Jim Cox met in her native Oklahoma, a state that’s long haunted their lives with its pure Americana and reflection of deep national mysteries. This past summer, the couple headed west for an exploratory field trip of genealogical and wider historical research, painting, and mindful rumination about what’s gone into creating our current country.
