Parker joins Robert Dodig, Jr., John Gambino, George Beisel and Gregg Jones in the Saugerties Sports Hall of Fame Club’s 2019 class. The induction banquet is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 13 at Diamond Mills in Saugerties.
A 1985 graduate of Saugerties High School, John Gambino was a very good football player on some not very successful varsity football teams. Gambino, who will be inducted into the Saugerties Sports Hall of Fame next month, still played every down like it was the Super Bowl.
The four $5,000 donations will be put toward of the installation of lights on Thornton Field, one of two fields at the Cantine Veterans Memorial Complex that lack lights.

For two and a half decades, Gregg Jones has been closely associated with Rondout Valley school athletics. But it was because of his accomplishments in Saugerties that Jones is being inducted into the Saugerties Sports Hall of Fame Club Class of 2019 next month.
The Kingston High School boys’ varsity basketball team is two wins away from the state championship. Last week the team took care of business, winning their first Section IX, Class AA title in six years, and then punched their ticket to the final four with a commanding win over a perennial powerhouse.
George Beisel, a lifelong Saugerties resident, a longtime village employee most recently in the Water Department, is now a member of the Saugerties Sports Hall of Fame Club’s Class of 2019.
A lot of very good football players have come and gone at New Paltz High School in the past 20 years. Some of the very best truly stand out. One thinks of Travis O’Dell, James Mach, Brandon Egan-Thorpe, Gordie Pine, Kevin Murphy, Joe Judge, Alex Dumas, Khariff Laboy, Guy Soumah, Joey DiMarco, Jon Diaz, Jimmy Verney, and this year Kenny Verney, Tanner Johnson and Mike Pisciotta. Though players come and go in high-school ball, one important feature of New Paltz football has stayed constant. Head coach Tom Tegeler, who has been running the show since the 2000 season, is arguably the best coach in the Section

The five wrestling Ross brothers have tried other sports, but nothing else has satisfied or bonded them as wrestling has. Competing for Onteora High School at the February 23-24 New York State Wrestling Championships in Albany, Nathan, a junior, took sixth place in his weight class of 152 pounds, and Nicholas, a sophomore, placed third in the 138-pound weight class.
