Woman whose husband died in Vietnam recalls pain and pride

When a traveling memorial wall visited Saugerties recently, members of the Kingston Veterans of Foreign Wars post, led by member Ken Swart, attempted to get in touch with the families of Ulster County’s Vietnam dead. In the process, they found Elizabeth “Betty” Jeszeck, who is, to their knowledge, the last surviving Vietnam War widow in the county.

In a world where the centuries-old art of running a printing press has been replaced by things that use lasers and making pages on computer screens, Mark Herb of Mark IV Printing will soon dot his last I’s and cross his last T’s. Next month, once he finishes his final orders from loyal customers, Herb will be closing up shop after over 50 years of production in Saugerties.
