One needn’t visit a yoga studio, a mountain peak or even an ashram to find one’s bliss. Just hoof it to Donkey Park, a farm with 13 of the gentle beasts of burden and braying, right off 9W in Ulster Park.
Saturday, Dec. 2: Sinterklaas will ride into Rhinebeck on his white horse, and the festivities go on all day long, with live dance, theater and music happening all over the village. The Children’s Starlight Parade, featuring two-story-tall animated puppets carried by hundreds of volunteers, unfolds at twilight.
Hinchey, a Democrat from Saugerties, served 18 years in the Assembly and 20 years in Congress, a time of significant political transformation in Ulster County. He helped lead the change.

Saturday, Dec. 2: Thousands of visitors are expected in Hudson’s historic center for Winter Walk, happening from 5 to 8 p.m., and there’s plenty to do to keep them all busy. Santa Claus arrives in his horsedrawn sleigh. He will listen to children’s holiday wishes and distribute a free gift-wrapped book to every child. As the grandfather clock strikes eight o’clock, fireworks light up the winter sky from Promenade Hill.
Friday, Dec. 1: The 24th annual Celebration of Lights is conducted in conjunction with the Bardavon, which will be showing the Rob Reiner’s classic 1987 film at 8 p.m.
