A panel discussion designed to provide information and to address the community’s questions concerning refugees and immigrants in Gardiner and the Hudson Valley will take place on Friday, May 19, 7 p.m., at the Gardiner Town Hall.
The New Paltz Repair Café will mark its fourth anniversary on Saturday, May 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Despite old issues being raised now, New Paltz Town Supervisor Neil Bettez remains optimistic that Moriello Pool will be ready for the season on time and with a new liner. Not all of his colleagues on the town council were equally optimistic.

The 5th Annual Spirit of Woodstock, in which the Woodstock Film Festival honors individuals who it feels embody the fiercely independent spirit that has made Woodstock famous for over 100 years will this year honor John Hall, songwriter/guitarist/singer and a former U.S. Congressman and, posthumously, Woodstock’s beloved historian Alf Evers.
Last year there were more than 500 people at the bike swap, and this event has put more than 1,000 under-used bikes back into use.
Saturday, May 13: The village will come alive with fair food and free festivities for all ages, including live animals, arts and crafts and a stage with live music. At the center of the action will be the Red Hook Public Library, which will host a giant bubble station, face-painting and “unconventional electronics,” and a performance by The Orchestra Now from the Bard Conservatory.
Despite the heavy rain, the 62nd New Paltz Regatta was held last Sunday, May 7 beginning with a parade of competing watercraft trundling on wheels down Plattekill Avenue from the village firehouse to Sojourner Truth Park off Plains Road, from whence they set sail — or sank, depending on how well the crafts were crafted.
