On Wednesday, May 24, the Hudson River Maritime Museum and the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation played host to a visit from a delegation the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

This year’s poppy girl will present a bouquet of poppies at the Donlon Wall honoring fallen servicemen. Congressman John Faso will be guest speaker at the event and Saugerties native Colonel Roger H.C. Donlon (Ret.), the first recipient of the Medal of Honor in Vietnam, will also participate.
The annual Saugerties Fish and Game Club’s fishing tournament at the Blue Mountain Reservoir is this Sunday, May 21. Registration starts at 8 a.m., fishing is from 9 a.m. to noon. This week the game club will be stocking the reservoir with 300 trout, according to Mike Hopf, the village of Saugerties water department superintendent.
Founded in 2013 as a public/private partnership of the Town of Lloyd Events Committee and the Highland Business Association, SpringFest will be back in the Highland hamlet this Saturday, May 20 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The village beach has new sand, improved drainage and a new parking lot.
