Hudson hosts Winter Walk

Hudson hosts Winter Walk

Saturday, Dec. 2: Thousands of visitors are expected in Hudson’s historic center for Winter Walk, happening from 5 to 8 p.m., and there’s plenty to do to keep them all busy. Santa Claus arrives in his horsedrawn sleigh. He will listen to children’s holiday wishes and distribute a free gift-wrapped book to every child. As the grandfather clock strikes eight o’clock, fireworks light up the winter sky from Promenade Hill.

Saint’s alive: Sinterklaas returns to the Hudson Valley

St. Nicholas may have started out, historically, as a bishop in fourth-century Asia Minor with a reputation for strategic philanthropy, somehow making his way to the Netherlands to become Amsterdam’s patron saint; but it’s arguably New Yorkers – particularly residents of the Hudson Valley – who are largely to thank for the jolly fat man’s international ubiquity.

Woodstock Thanksgiving

Whether you head off to Woodstock’s big community center Thanksgiving or go to friends’ and/or family’s private tables, be sure to raise a glass to Levon and the other fallen heroes. Be sure to invite those still living. And don’t forget the chestnuts!
