All manner of hot rods and classic cars from years past will line the streets of the village this Sunday, July 7 from 1-6 p.m. for the 16th annual Sawyer Motors Car Show.

Since the untimely death of Lasher Funeral Home director Ken Peterson in May, the Woodstock business is still in operation by staff members Scott DiMicco and Ralph van Hoesen. Ken’s mother, Janet, and his brother, Carl, hope to sell the business to a qualified funeral director, although Carl remarked that no one could replace the historical perspective Ken brought to his work, with his lifelong knowledge of the community and its history.

Firefighters from Mt. Marion, Saugerties, Sawkill, Town of Ulster, Centerville, West Hurley, Kiskatom and members of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Department and the New York State Police Department paid tribute on June 22 to Captain Jack H. Rose, a member of the Mount Marion Fire Department who died on December 19, 2015 at age 19 in the line of duty.
