January 23 to April 14: The “durational” works that established the Saugerties artist’s creative reputation include Art/Life: One Year Performance, in which she was bound by rope to Taiwanese performance artist Tehching Hsieh 24 hours a day for a full year.
January 31 – February 10: Vassar serves up nearly two weeks of thematically connected music, lectures, films and more in venues around the Vassar campus and – for the first time this year – off-campus as well. Modfest’s 2019 theme is “In Motion.”
With a gift from the Thomas and Corinne Nyquist Foundation, Historic Huguenot Street will host four seasonal nature walks at the Nyquist-Harcourt Wildlife Sanctuary and the Mohonk Preserve led by ethno ecologist and founder of Wild Hudson Valley Justin Wexler, who specializes in folklore and land use among the native people of the Hudson Valley.
Two full scholarships are being offered for Mountain Laurel Waldorf School in New Paltz. The scholarships are available for students entering seventh grade in the 2019-20 school year, and will last through eighth grade.

Sunday, Jan. 20: The first lecture for 2019 brings design historian and historic interiors expert Jean Dunbar of Historic Design, Inc. for the unveiling of a new discovery at Thomas Cole’s home.
The 2019 Women’s March on Woodstock will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday January 19, beginning on Playhouse Lane, and marching up Mill Hill Road to Rock City Road and on to Andy Lee Field, where a rally will take place.
