None of students or other passengers were injured in Friday’s crash, which happened after the bus driver suffered a medical emergency while behind the wheel. The driver passed away two days later.
The Kingston Fire Department will hold its annual marking of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks next Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Fireman’s Park on Washington Avenue. Attendees are asked to gather at 8:30 a.m.; the ceremony will begin at 8:46 a.m., when American Airlines Flight 11 hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center. The public is encouraged to attend.
The playground at Hasbrouck Park in New Paltz is at the end of its serviceable life and volunteers are being asked to help rebuild it, as was done 25 years ago. The New Paltz Village Board and the DPW assessed the playground’s condition in 2015, which is what put this plan into motion.

The New Paltz Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring and Executive Committees have named Christopher Short to serve as the organization’s new executive director. He replaces former New Paltz Chamber director Jen Roe, who resigned recently after only a year at the helm.
