Bob Schuler (1925-2017)

In 1986, the High Falls artist began the Tethys Project, a sort of personal time capsule  that would become his primary artistic endeavor for the rest of his life. Each side of each cube was incised (via sandblasting) with images, glyphs, poetic statements, as well as the latitude and longitude for each block—all created and designed by the artist. The idea was that the Tethys Project would be as close to a permanent artistic statement as possible, with the submerged granite blocks discovered hundreds or thousands of years from now, if then.

Robbie Dupree brings a whole new crop of ‘Friends’ with him when he takes the stage for the first time in two years in the area, at 8 p.m. Saturday, December 9 at the Falcon, in Marlboro, and then right at home in Woodstock, at 8 p.m. Sunday, December 10 at Colony, 22 Rock City Road.

Hudson hosts Winter Walk

Saturday, Dec. 2: Thousands of visitors are expected in Hudson’s historic center for Winter Walk, happening from 5 to 8 p.m., and there’s plenty to do to keep them all busy. Santa Claus arrives in his horsedrawn sleigh. He will listen to children’s holiday wishes and distribute a free gift-wrapped book to every child. As the grandfather clock strikes eight o’clock, fireworks light up the winter sky from Promenade Hill.
