Shamrock Run & St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Kingston

Sunday, March 11: The 31st annual parade steps off from Uptown’s Kingston Plaza at 1 p.m., but the day begins with the popular two-mile Shamrock Run, anticipated to have as many as 5,000 participants this year. Registration for the run begins at 10 a.m., and the race starts at 12:50 p.m. sharp.

Tony Kushner to talk at Bard about Leonard Bernstein & Spielberg remake of West Side Story

This January, the news dropped that Steven Spielberg is doing a big-screen remake of the stage musical West Side Story. Leonard Bernstein’s iconic music will be retained, but one of the most brilliant of contemporary playwrights, Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winner Tony Kushner (Angels in America), has come aboard to rewrite the screenplay.

This afternoon, local organization Nobody Leaves Mid-Hudson and allies held a protest at Congressman John Faso’s office in Kingston. The protest called on John Faso and Congress to pass a Clean Dream Act – permanent legislative protections for DACA recipients that do not include any funding for a border wall or immigration enforcement.
