Sunday, Sept. 24: The Hudson River Skywalk on the Rip Van Winkle Bridge will include “bump-outs”: scenic viewing platforms ten feet deep and 50 feet long. The new pedestrian pathway, slated to be completed this November, will allow visitors to walk over the river from one major cultural landmark in the area to another: a direct connection between the Thomas Cole National Historic Site in Catskill and the Olana State Historic Site, just south of Hudson.
It was a full day of family-friendly activities and community camaraderie last Saturday at Majestic Park in Gardiner, as the 28th annual Gardiner Day went off without a hitch under sunny skies above.
In the trial run earlier this year, local residents, called “community ambassadors,” took their students on hikes, visited museums, attended performances, visited local sites like Walkway Over the Hudson and shared meals in restaurants and their homes.
He brings nearly 20 years of experience to New Paltz, most recently as principal at Kent Primary School in Carmel, a K-4 building.
If you’re looking for New Paltz High School’s new assistant principal, don’t expect to find her behind a desk all day. “I’m a very mobile person,” says Tara Ryba. “I will be everywhere and anywhere.”
“What is it? What’s it worth?” will be held Wednesday, September 6 at 7 p.m. at the New Paltz Community Center.
Festival organizers say it’s intended to create a supportive environment where people can come together, not to recommend particular program or treatment.

Tuesday, August 22-Sunday, August 27: It’s the second-largest county fair in the state, and this year’s entertainment includes 3 Doors Down, the Brothers Osborne, the Marshall Tucker Band and the Old Crow Medicine Show.
