Also set to appear are POOK, the Creative Music Studio with jazz vibraphonist Karl Berger, the NYU Steel Drum Ensemble, the North/South Indian Music Project, the Beatbox House, the Northeast Ghana All-Stars and the Big Takeover Reggae Band.

Moving-In Day at SUNY New Paltz welcomes 2,000+ new students

They’re baaaaack. More of them than ever, almost: nearly 1,150 first-year students and more than 900 transfer students were welcomed to the SUNY New Paltz campus on Moving-In Day last Thursday. According to university officials, that makes this one of the largest incoming undergraduate classes in the college’s history.

Wyoming’s Wind River Indian Reservation is one of the deadliest places in the Lower 48 states – largely because it’s among the coldest, windiest and snowiest. But the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho for whom the area is home face additional life-threatening challenges: poverty, drug and alcohol addiction and violent crime. Unemployment rates on the reservation exceed 80 percent; the average life expectancy is below age 50.
