An unusual array of participants took part in the December 5 Gardiner Town Board meeting.
Competition was stiff at the second annual Hudson Valley Gingerbread Competition at Mohonk Mountain house last Sunday. According to Lauren Peress, director of marketing at the Mohonk Mountain House, there were 47 entries in the inaugural contest in 2016.
Dec. 14–Jan. 5: The data collected at these counts comprise one of only two large pools of information used by scientists to track bird species over the decades.
Friday and Saturday, Dec. 15-16: the movie screen will be rolled up and the Rosendale Theatre stage dressed for live performances of two gems from the long and distinguished career of the “Poet Laureate of Radio,” Norman Corwin: The Plot to Overthrow Christmas and The Anatomy of Sound.
The exhibit will be on view through Jan. 7.
The Frozendale festival returns Saturday, Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The movie will be shown at 11 a.m.
Coco’s look is derived from the friendly-skeleton iconography of Día de los Muertos celebrations and the delightfully lurid colors of the monster figurines known in Mexico as alebrijes.
This year’s winners were Historic Huguenot Street for the Lifetime Achievement Award; the Accent Financial Group for Excellence in Community Service; Alfandre Architecture for Business of the Year; and Mark Masseo of Masseo Landscape, Inc. and Kalleco Nursery as Entrepreneur of the Year.
Saturday, Dec. 2: Sinterklaas will ride into Rhinebeck on his white horse, and the festivities go on all day long, with live dance, theater and music happening all over the village. The Children’s Starlight Parade, featuring two-story-tall animated puppets carried by hundreds of volunteers, unfolds at twilight.
