The Elting Memorial LIbrary is marking 100 years at its current address with several events scheduled. Trustees are also looking toward the future, considering upgrades and expansion of the building.

When it opened in 1932, inmates at Wallkill Correctional Facility lived in four housing wings, each containing 42 cells, with bathrooms and recreation rooms on each wing, much like a college dormitory. They were allowed to keep the keys to their own rooms.
Suspect nabbed in downtown New Paltz stabbing
A little after 10 p.m. on Friday night, January 24, an unidentified 24-year-old man sustained a stab wound to the torso near the intersection of Main and North Front Streets in downtown New Paltz. He was reported in stable condition following surgery at an area hospital.
